RAMMS brings together mining and mechanical engineering, postgraduate research and industry-facing modelling within the SAMERDI Mechanised Mining Systems programme.
Our approach
The Research Activity in Mechanised Mining Systems (RAMMS) began research activity in 2022 and is hosted at the University of Pretoria. It is led across Mining Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, with collaboration from other universities and industry partners.
We connect rock–machine interaction, productivity and maintenance, and digital twins because mechanised mines operate as systems. This portal helps that work travel: from student research into publications and from validated algorithms into well-scoped utilities.
