Towards continuous underground blasting in mechanised mining (draft)

A draft RAMMS position paper examining whether deflagration-based rock breaking could reduce the batch constraints of hard-rock drill-and-blast mining.

This document is explicitly identified by its authors as a draft position paper. It explores pyrotechnic and carbon-dioxide rock-breaking technologies as possible bridges between conventional batch blasting and more continuous underground hard-rock production.

The paper is exploratory, not an operating recommendation. It identifies safety, fragmentation, ventilation and continuity opportunities alongside unresolved cost, reliability, deep-mine and downstream-handling questions.
