Underground Visual-odometry Pipeline

A camera-based positioning pipeline with deep-learning feature extraction and uncertainty-aware correction for difficult underground imagery.

The research pipeline estimates vehicle motion from image sequences and manages accumulated drift using uncertainty information. It is intended for underground settings where GNSS is unavailable and lighting, texture and dust complicate conventional visual methods.

Utility pathway

A browser demonstration could eventually run against an approved short image sequence and visualise trajectory and uncertainty. The full research pipeline remains a prototype while the dissertation is finalised.
